The upgraded Bio-Mats with the 7000mx technology launched in November 2012. The improved mats have been available in North America since November 2012. They became available in April 2013 in 220V versions for countries outside North America.
In February 2015, a new quantum layer containing peach and grape seeds was added as found in the Quantum Energy Pads. Peach and grape seeds happen to resonate at the optimum frequency of the human body. Using an organic compound extracted from these seeds, along with amethyst powder, a field is created that assists the body to come to a more healthy frequency.
In January 2023, the Professional Biomat added tourmaline to increase negative ion output. The electrically generated negative ion technology was removed.

10. Biomat Reviews
The Biomat is the orginal crystal infrared mat. It is manufactured by Richway International, a company founded in 1997, and based in Honolulu, Hawaii. The founders of the company observed healing effects from individuals spending time in a jade and amethyst mine they owned in Korea. To better understand what was happening, they brought scientists in to review the situation. The scientists determined the healing effects were brought about by the infrared coming from the crystals. After this review by the scientists, the founders wanted to replicate the healing effects observed in the mine through the construction of a heated crystal mat. Originally, jade was used as the crystal, but later amethyst, with its higher transmissivity of infrared, was found to be superior.

The following are temperature recommendations for your Biomat. This will give you a starting place. You will find your best temperature through experimentation.

(35° to 40° C) | Often used for overnight sleeping. Some people will prefer to sleep warmer, and some less. |

(45° to 50° C) | These are good temperatures for a short 15 minute to 1/2 hour session. |
| 131° to 140° F
(55° to 60° C) | These also are good temperatures for a short 15 minute to 1/2 hour session where more heat is desired. At thse temperatures and above, after four hours, the temperature will drop to 113° as a saftey precaution. |
| 149° to 158° F
(65° to 70° C) | This range is similar to an infrared sauna. People use this temperature in a short session. (Limit time to 30 minutes to 1 hour.) |

13. How to Choose a Biomat
There are six sizes of Biomats, with the Professional Biomat, Mini-Mat, and Bio-Belt being the most popular. Each of these Biomats use the same basic construction, so that size is the main difference. The Bio-Belt uses different gemstones, but is otherwise identical. Below is a brief overview of the mats, which may help you in making your selection.
